Set deep in The Plinth beneath a grass-covered berm, the Archive is visible from street level only as a long horizontal slot of amber light at ground plane — a Kahn-ian gesture of compressed approach that makes entry feel earned. The building opens into a vast underground reading room clad entirely in hand-laid Roman brick, its vaulted ceiling supported by a forest of slender cruciform steel columns.
