The Skriptorium occupies a narrow, six-story wedge of blackened iron and honey-colored beeswax-rendered brick, wedged between two canal arms in the Palimpsestmarkt district. Its façade is studded with hundreds of small brass niches, each holding a slowly melting candle shaped like a contracted seal — the district's crest, a quill bisecting an open eye, rendered in tallow that drips at medically calibrated rates.
