They are written in German, on paper manufactured with industrial precision the Contrade cannot replicate. The documents describe Speranza — by name, with accurate maps — as though it were being administered by an absent bureaucracy. Dottor Ferrara has determined the paper is approximately negative forty years old, which he considers "concerning."
